Hi Guys,

I wonder if you could offer a little advice,

I am after an alarm system for my home. The type of alarm system I would like is one that I am able to connect up to my home network and be able to monitor it over the internet via a web interface or an application that runs on a remote PC.

Could anybody offer any advice on the best solution.

I dont want to be paying £££££ for a system that is way more that what I need.

I would like a bisic system that I am able to monitor over the internet.

If this is not possible what system would you recommend where I could monitor it over a USB link or vial a serial interface.

Many thanks

Regards

Simon

This is easily achieved using an Ethernet module but there are a few problems at the moment.

1 The panels that do this isn’t cheap

2 You will require an alarm receiving card and/or specialist software,

The problem is currently being addressed by panel manufacturers due to a new European standard asking for encrypted coms but we are only testing these at this time.

The answer to your problem would be solved by using a panel that will notify you of an incidence by say SMS and you using dial in software for U/Dload.

I hope this helps and others may have differing ideas

You are BASED in Hull??? - or simply live there? - so does that mean the system isnt for you then? - I thought it was for your house?

The enthernet I/O device would work, but you would still need all the software and a server to log into remotely. If you got the knowledge to do this or know somone that can then this might be usefull.

It appears you aren’t getting the answers you want, Ok as i said before it can be done but its not cheap and the control panel i was thinking of is not available to just anyone. The panels i mentioned we are testing will however be available to joe public, they are cheap and will do what you want. They are not on the open market just yet but will probably be around in New Year. Pyronix then tab on MX mon

What about the Texecom Premier and the serial link, just plug into a pc that's always on with remote desktop.

That's what I'm using
