House built 1990 with existing Scantronic 9000 series system.

Moved in 1995 - alarm system not active - sellers suggested it worked ok though.

Fuse left out - when replaced got numerous functions going off including fault messages on display.

Since 1995 replacement doors (front, rear, patio) have made redundant the original sensors which I noticed in thes three door areas.

Rest of system seems to consist of ...........

+2 external boxes with strobes

+2 downstair PIR (living room and lounge)

+2 smoke detectors (upstair and dwonstair landing)

+1 or 2 walk pads (stairs and ?) which I recall seeing when carper laying before

+1 or 2 small boxes (on bedroom walls at head height - dont look like PIRs ?)

Recent break-in attempt (which failed) has caused me to re consider security.

Situation is do I purchase a wireless system (like AEI SG4000) or try and get my existing system to work ........ i.e. inside PIRS and external boxes/strobes worth getting to work rather than replacing with wireless equivalents.

I have basically nothing - only a old operators manual with flow charts which are of no help.

When I power up the unit i.e. replace the fuse ...... I basically get alarm sounding and display advising to call engineer etc

Wanted to know if it was possible for me to get this baby up an running myself ?

With no codes or advise on such Im stuck at the first hurdle !

Any help or advise appreciated

Can take digi photo of panel and inside pcb's etc if could help

In a word, no. If you want to use it I would suggest you get an engineer out to it to recommision it and service the system.

The old Scantronic panels are high-end professional panels. The AEI is a DIY type thing. Your money would be better spent getting the existing system up and running.

If you want to post your location I'm sure there will be an engineer here able to assist.

I'm in the Swindon area - any ballpark idea of what such a recommision might cost ?

That's something the engineer would be able to advise you on once the extent of the works has been ascertained.

By the sounds of it there are a few other jobs involved with the recommisionning of the system so without seeing it I wouldn't like to start throwing figures around.

Yup, keep the scantronic, once fired back up and checked you shouldn't have any problems.
