Smart Electrics Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Welcome to BT productivity at its finest and BT engineers are not alowed to run are cables under carpet or donot have the luxery of time to lift up the floor boards. But I know what you mean. Like all industrys you have the bad and the idiot and then you get the bad idiot
Monteey Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Yes i gather each job shouldnt take more than hour, talking to engineers in the past otherwise they have to call for assistance. Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. Monteey Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Trouble is, does someone come and look at these jobs before hand or just send the engineer in blind, i mean a long cable run could take an hour on its own nevermind connecting and testing. Monteey Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Silly me of course, no more than 10 staples per 100m Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. Garry Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 My town is in Hull and surrounding areas we have Kingston comms and we have never been able to fit redcare on there exchange allways had to fit smelly dual comms...YUKKY We also can only use them as an isp sad really as they feel they can charge what they want so its not the end of redcare for us because there has never been a begining. Garry You can lead a horse to water but you carnt climb a ladder with a bell in both hands.

If it is a 100 pr run then you might be lucky and have a survey officer to plan the work.
Monteey Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Hmm interesting, whats the promotions prospects like in BT, ie if your an engineer will you be doing cable runs the rest of your life or can you move up the ladder to something more complex.
