Guest rafal Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Hi I am planning to install DSC Power 832 system. Should I stay with one brand /panel & detectors/? I would like to ask your opinion about DSC Bravo, Strata, Encore and dual Force2 detectors. Would you recommend using other brand of detectors for example Optex? Thanks in advance. Rafal
Guest Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Given up with the Karizma, or is this a different project? Anyway, you can mix and match mainstream panels and detectors without too much of a problem. DSC aren't my cup of tea, I've never used any so can't comment on them but I am using the Texecom Prestiges at the mo, no complaints so far. Optex are a bit 'audible' by all accounts, some people don't notice it, some peole find it annoying.
Guest MKAlarms Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I always thought the DSC detectors were a bit big and ugly looking, but I suppose it's subjective. From a compatibility point of view as Stuart says you should be able to use any PIRs. IMHO Optex have gone downhill recently. I don't know if it's from moving their manufacturing to China or because of component cost cutting. We're using Prestige at the moment and are very pleased with them. If you just want a basic, cheap PIR try the Reflex, we've fitted thousands of them over the years, great detector for the money. MikeR
Guest Hyrava Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I am using DSC Bravo series. Bravo 2 / 3 is a bit audible and it must be mounted at least 2 inches from ceiling or you can't open or close its cover. Bravo 6 is sometimes very hard to open, its cover is very tight. Maybe some DSC detectors are a bit ugly looking, but as said, it's subjective. I like DSC Bravo series. Those are easy to install on different places. I have no complaints. And I have DSC Power832 (PC5015) at my home and I'm very pleased with it.
Deltaseven Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 We used to fit a lot of DSC Bravo 2 and Bravo 6 detectors in Zimbabwe, and were satisfied with the results (but no more than that). When we had anything more difficult than a standard room, we would go for Optex.
Guest rafal Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Thank you very much for the responses. To Lurch Yes, it is same project. As many things it become extended in time.
