Cesuk Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 can anybody help? I have fitted a veritus r8 compact panel and the client told me they had a standard analogue phone line only to find out its digital which this dialler will not work on. Is there anyway I could make this work or do I have to go down another route? Quote

Won't work Either buy a GSM dialler Or tell installer fit up an IP card and get you app control Latter being more complicated but probably cheaper on long run as the gsm unit is best used with a contract sim so you can receive messages without worrying about toping up Of course this is all if you just want some kind of notifications as opposed to "proper monitoring " which involves higher monthly fees and contracts Edited August 25, 2020 by al-yeti Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Something better than a Veritas Compact and a dialler in the first place would have given you a lot more options. Quote

sixwheeledbeast Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Not even sure if they have more than the one switched output (with a very limited functionality IIRC). Been so long since I stamped on one, as H would say. Quote
james.wilson Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 as the advice from ofcom bsia etc is Quote The BSIA is urging security installers to take swift action on their alarm signalling estates in advance of the transition to an ALL-IP voice service with migration in some areas taking place as early as this autumn. PSTN is dying. SIA wise we have upgraded most of the estate away from PSTN. Well not exactly it will be good five plus years before we see it.in a big way Although allot of new installs are going in IP route , all business around here I have seen are being given VoIP by bt Virgin are still mixing it , doesn't seem to be priority , perhaps expense for them and they need money for the airline ..... Plenty of issues dude But realistically the suppliers have a lot of problems, very slow on euiqpment But then probably because so much is made by Huawei , they have to rethink , all of bt dongles and many others made by them to, then they need to swap over as they go along , 5yeara I just meant you will see obviously allot more VoIP in residential But let's see eh , maybe covid 20 will put a stop to it ..... sixwheeledbeast Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 It's going to be a slow roll out I agree, will be a while before all the legacy in service kit is switched. Virgin running on there own DOCSIS can do what they like. You can get routers with analogue phone outputs that can route calls via PSTN or SIP based on number dialled etc. I don't see how this type of thing wouldn't be used to prop up all the legacy connections for a good while.
