I have just installed a Pyronix Sterling 10 with Icon keypad.

According to the user/installation manuals there are two mechanisms for arming the panel:

1 - enter user code followed by alarm icon button then the mode key [A,B,C or D]. Using this method a tone is heard until arming is active.

2 - (silent arm) where you just press the alarm icon button followed by the mode key[A,B,C or D] no tone is heard during arming until arming is active and the unit will beep.

When the log is viewed - the arming activity (including mode) can be seen followed by the user ID of the person arming only if method 1 above is used. If method 2 (silent arm) is used the user is always identified as user 0.

Is it possible to disable silent arming as it provides no auditable trail of who armed the system.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you can't turn the silent set feature off on this panel. It is generally considered more important to be able to trace the user who UNSET the system than the user who SET it.

The Sterling Ten is a fairly basic panel, and will only provide a basic audit trail, and limited flexibility.

"Fairly Basic" your not joking there mate. Ive been to one this week and it reminded me why i hate them so much (not that i needed much reminding).

As to the original question, its a side effect of fitting a **** panel sorry to be harsh. Me manual is in the van or id have a look, ill get it out tomorrow AND BURN IT.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

I find it hard to be polite with sterling 10's.

Silent set can not be disabled.

The panel will have to be set using a code to be entered on the log.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

I have to say it does seem pretty ****. Very badly written installation manual - and wrong in places. Don't think I would use another but - can you get better for £50?

Thanks for the replies.

I agree with Deltaseven.

Try Texecom, personally i cant fault them. You can get LED keypad for the same price or if you want LCD you will be spending more but worth it. Scanny do a cheap LCD one but not used it so cant comment although i dont like the keypad.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
