Alan Richardson Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 We have power cycled the DVR turned off for 10 mins and 2 hours, still beeps when switched back on. Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Don't know the model too well but maybe there is something wrong with it, like a hard rive failure or a blown fuse causing video loss for example. Quote
aissecur Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 My Money would be on hard drive, it sounds like you don’t know that kit so probably don’t know if all the system parameters are set up correctly certainly worth getting a professional in to give it a once over Quote
PeteGBR Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 If it makes lots of noise on power up it will be the Hard disk. If the hard disk does not spin up it will possibly be that the power supply is not giving enough power. Does the power light flicker on the external power supply or on the front of the unit? (if the mains supply goes directly in the back of the unit). If you can access the menu's after booting up - Just look in the log. I'm not familiar with the Alien - But all these things log faults and alarms...etc. Quote

sixwheeledbeast Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Yep agreed, would all depend how a drive fails as to any audio clues like that. Silent types of failure are probably likely than the more obvious mechanical ones. Fans especially the smaller ones in these units are more likely for bearing to let go. If the OP isn't sure how to check what the fault is probably a could idea to get the installer back. Quote
PeteGBR Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 OK. The original post was almost totally lacking in any detail. Like going to the doctor and saying; "Something's wrong with me Doc. It hurts somewhere" and that's it. Quote
