Is it advisable to change the transformer, in a Citadel XR2 House Alarm, if you’re not a qualified electrician? If so, can anyone provide guidance?

Thanks

Peter

there are no rules on any diy work if you are competent, its not like rewiring your house where it has to be certified

Replacing transformers wouldn't be general practice at all, you would replace the whole control panel.

It's all down to competence with being able to connect and isolate the electrical/electronics if your DIYing.

All valued comments, appreciate the advice Peter! I have already purchased a suitable transformer, on the encouragement of someone in the know, so wanted to attempt the replacement myself. I wanted some neutral advice re the replacement in general. Can’t track any YouTube video’s about the job, do you know of any?

Thanks

It's not something I would expect people in the trade to be searching youtube for, also consider most would replace the whole panel too. I would imagine the only suitable transformer would be from another panel of the same type. The model is a rebranded "Accenta" if that helps your search any.
