Hi

I have a Scantonic 9651 Aalrm which has a 9941 keypad. The date and time on the keypad started to show corruption on the display which got worse over time until it started to sound from the keypad. I reset the alrm which cleared the issue for a while but within a few weeks its starting to happen again. Any ideas, if its a faulty keypad or mainboard? Could be be something else )eg power damage?

Thanks

Likely the keypad but suggest you get the system fully checked over by a qualified alarm engineer, if it’s been unchecked for a number of years you can have a number of potential issues

It's cheap to buy either way just replace it or both like for like

Better to update tho

They do need maintenance, if it's a cheap battery that could have failed and be causing you issues would usual check this annually.

More likely it would be the keypad or the connections to it but normally when you loose connection it shows the keypad version number.

Can't rule out a power surge either, most engineers would be checking the log then connections and voltages at this point.

Keypad failing after a two years ?  Something doesnt add up was it second hand?

I agree with the above get it serviced, then have it serviced regularly, it prevents problem such as the alarm going off randomly with no apparent reason
