I'm a little confused trying to figure out how the G3 control panel works...

So, you have a spring which is designed to detect when the control panel has been opened and trigger the alarm. However, within the control panel you also have a battery which, if I've understood correctly, powers the entire system, so this can just be yanked out, rendering the tamper alarm fairly useless.

A proper system is all down to it's design. A tamper is just a first line of defeat detection.

If you were to rip all the inners out of the control panel the external sounder would be triggered from it's own battery; in a correctly designed fully operational system.

This is why it's important to have a system serviced regular, if a component fails and you don't pick it up it maybe relatively easy to defeat the system.

There is a battery in the bell as well. But if you are worried about burglars breaking in opening up the alarm box and ripping the battery and mains off ( if they did this the bells would still continue to ring assuming the system is serviced)then maybe you should consider a monitored alarm

Picture the scene....

You fit your "high end" Accenta alarm, to your house

For what ever reason you've got dishonest dan the decorating man doing the dinning rm.

Dan knows superfresco goes on easy its by graham & brown..... & should he open your untampered pir & twist the wires togethers he can bypass the 12hr circuit & come back & smash your back door in & the alarm won't make a sound

eg - tamper circuits detect people tampering with the alarm whilst its unset ?

Cover them in wallpaper paste no tampering necessary, hence why walk test should be done.

Agreed tho, tamper switches are day mode detection, you would hope the system was already activated if set.
