Tas Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Hi I want to update my Texecom Veritas panel which has been in for about 15 years and noticed that the external case has gone dark yellow because of the heat sink. Looking to replace it with the Premier Elite 24 plastic case but not sure if there would be the same heat build inside due to its compact size or should I go for metal? Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Switch mode power supplies and the regulator is off the board so will not be the same. Quote
Tas Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 So I presume they run cooler then the old power supplies? Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Completely different panel and power supply setup. Premier will be a fair bit more in depth to program. A plastic cab will always yellow slightly with age but not go brown in the top left like some Veritas do. Normally that's a sign that the power supply has been heavily loaded, should do current checks. The Metal cab has a larger power supply and battery capacity, if that's a concern. Quote
Tas Posted November 5, 2022 Author Posted November 5, 2022 Thank you for your help and advice. Think I will go for Metal cab with larger power supply as maybe having 3 sounders connected to the Veritas has been drawing to much power from the power supply. Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Sounds like too much current for most panels, would need to do standby and load current checks to make sure the battery and power supply is suitable. That Veritas sounds very overloaded. Quote
