KillingTime Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Hi, I've picked up a couple of old analogue (PAL) CCTV cameras. Panasonic WV-CF324. Manual attached. There are number of DIP switches on the camera. The manual uses acronyms to label them, but doesn't actually describe what they do. D/N - On/Off B.S. - On/Off B.L.C. - On/Off A.L.C. / E.L.C. Can anyone link to something that describes what these option stand for and what they actually do? Or if you know, why would you want to use each option. Thanks. KillingTime Posted March 20, 2023 Author Posted March 20, 2023 >>wow, skip fodder Yes, they were free. D/N could be Day/Night. Easy enough to check. turn the lights off and see if the image goes to black and white. BLC works like HDR. pictures here: https://www.cctvcameraworld.com/blc-hlc-wdr-in-camera-image-sensors/ BS - Black Stretch ??? Another Panasonic prop feature. - designed to make shadows and dark areas appear clearer in the camera view... ALC - ALC adjustment would control iris compensation for bright spots within the field of view... ELC - ELC compensates for moderate light changes in indoor applications without the use of expensive auto iris lenses. Presumably, ALC is best for outdoor scenes (wider light level variations), while ELC is better for indoors? Quote

Black light compensation Not sure if that was a typo, Its back light compensation as the name suggest it adjusts the iris to compensate for backlight when the camera is looking at an area that will have a lot of light like entrance doors etc. DN digital noise ALC/ELC is whether the lens is controlled by the lense or the camera Auto light conditions/ Electronic light condition BS not sure Quote
