David Walsh Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Hi guys. I have 4 hochiki IO’s for my 12 door net 2 paxton access control units. Any idea if I need 1 IO for each door controller (1 door in 1 controller btw) or is there any other way of wiring them? Many thanks! Quote
PeterJames Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Your question isnt clear but I guess you are asking about connecting the fire alarm to the access control to release the doors when the fire alarm goes off. To be compliant you should wire them in series with the locks not into the controller, they should in the event of a fire drop the power to the lock as default. If you wire them to an input on the Paxton and programming the paxton to release the doors, then you are reliant on the Paxton kit working when a fire breaks out which then means the Paxton has to be compliant to BS5839 which its not 1 Quote
David Walsh Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Thank you. What do you mean locks not in the controller? Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 You could do it all with one on Paxton but as pointed out it wouldn't conform. Should be an interface local to each door breaking the power directly like with local emergency door releases. Can't rely on the controller or the access network in case it FTO 1 Quote

As a newbie or chancer as some might say I assuming you need to fit something in-between the lock and the controller , this way controller has no choice that doors are released ??? Quote
james.wilson Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Al drop the chancher bit, your asking, if you cant ask with some positive feedback tsi is dead. As Pete says the fire overide needs to be at each head droping the power to each lock as part of the fire not a network intruction I was handed mine earier today as functional earths need a different colour I need to get back in the ring Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
sixwheeledbeast Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 It's been Pink for a little while now. The colours in the regs for DC make little sense but I suppose when they specified and then changed them initially that made no sense either... Quote

sixwheeledbeast Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 It's usually down to who controls what tho. Who will commission the fire etc. I would always expect one for one unless told and confirmed in writing otherwise. You want to minimise the length of the runs from the fire system and also minimise failures if there is an issue with the loop. Quote
