What is "bells rearm" ?

Hi folks

Hopefully an easy one for you guys :) Have just fitted a T690 panel to my own house - all very straightforward (I've only done CCTV installations to date, this is my first alarm system).

System triggered this morning (probably due to our cat climbing up the wooden vention blinds and knocking against the vibration sensor :unsure: - the SD1+ dialler made a call to me but I didn't get to acknowledge it. When I arrived home, was expecting to find the strobe flashing and the internal sounder (in the keypad) beeping. None of that happened - in fact, the alarm seems to have unset itself after it was triggered.

As a test, I set the bell duration to 1 minute and then triggered the sensor. After the bell has finished ringing, the system is unset - there's an event in the log "Bells rearm". No other events yet the system is no longer armed. Is there a configuration option somewhere for this ?

Thanks

Frank

Folks, basically just wondering why my TS690 does not rearm itself after being triggered ? I've checked the system timers and config values and all seems okay. No explanation in the docs of "bells rearm" though, and when to expect to see that.

There is an event "system re-armed" but this does *not* show up in the eventlog, only "bells rearm"

By the way, the docs explain "bells rearm: time and date of bells reinstatement. Separate from System Re-arm."

And "System re-armed: system re-armed all healthy circuits"

I'm not all that familiar with the menvier, but from reading the manual, it doesn't mention 'bells re-arm', only 'system re-arm' like you said. However, it seems the message actually displayed on the keypad would read 're-armed' only, not 'system re-armed'.

Are you 100% sure the panel is a TS690?

When you test the re-arm yourself, try tripping a different zone on the second attempt as the original zone may have been omitted during the re-arm.

Also double check that menu 1, option 5(system timers), 03(no. re-arms) is set at it's default of 3 re-arms.

Other than that, I can't really suggest anything else :(

If you don't know......ask.

you think you may have the re-arms value set for 000, go to eng menu 1 option 5 (timers) then option 01(re-arms), this is normally default 003 which will re-arm the system 3 times after an alarm. If it is set to 000, I think this unsets the system after an alarm as you have requested it to not rearm. ...........If not give us some more info about the layout of the system and what it has on (equipment etc.) particularly anything connected to the outputs.

Ta :wacko:

Yep, all I can see is the possibility of system re-arms set to 000. If it's not that I'm somewhat stumped.... :question:

Thanx for the ideas. The re-arms (configuration #01 is currently set to 7 (default value is 3). The system is a Menvier TS690 and has a Menvier SD1+ speech dialler attached. I have removed the outputs to the dialler for the time-being, so it's not activating right now.

Here's the setup - the house is a three-story unit with kitchen, hall and livingroom downstairs; two bedrooms and bathroom on middle floor, top floor is master bedroom and ensuite. Only windows on the middle and top floors are protected, and on the ground floor the front door, kitchen window and patio doors are protected. Those doors are programmed to give the entry/exit delay when triggered.

Circuits===============

01 = PA Aud = Panic button (bedroom), attributes = none

02 = F. Exit = Front door, bottom floor, attributes = reset, monitored, chime

03 = Night = Kitchen window, bottom floor, attributes = reset, monitored, chime

04 = F.Exit = Patio door, bottom floor, attributes = reset, monitored, chime

05 = Night = windows front and back, middle floor, attributes = reset, monitored, chime

06 = Night = windows, top floor, attributes = reset, monitored, chime

The sensors are a mix of standard magnetic contacts and Viper shock sensors (either GL or GLX, can't remember which). All circuits report healthy and pass walk-test. When "chime" is enabled on each circuit, the chime does indeed work for each one. No motion/IR sensors attached.

Outputs are as follows (but note that nothing is connected at the moment):

Panel Outputs==========

1 = 004 = walk test

2 = 012 = courtesy light

3 = 002 = switch 12v

5 = 009 = code accepted

6 = 009 = code accepted

4 = 008 = system set

5 = 056 = active omit

Could it be something to do with configuration #32 ? This bit is not so understandable to me.

Has the system just started doing this or is this a thing you have just discovered with it???

There have been a few revisions on the 690 - to do with the programming and its eprom etc etc,

If you have just discovered it, it may be a the panel has an updated revision since your one.

If it has only just started doing this then it cant be that.

5.4.05 is the latest revision acording to menviers web site - and there has been an issue with the rearm flag and also the bell delay flag.

So as I said is this a new fault or has it always been there?????

It has always done it - in that, I've had the unit for about 6 months but have only ust got around to fitting it. Is there any way to get the unit to report the EPROM version ? Otherwise I'll open it up and see if there's an ID# on the chip.

Thanks ! Would I be able to get an updated EPROM from Menvier ?
