Hi

I have a pyronix enforcer alarm in the house, which I haven’t really used upto now, however due to low batteries the alarm is going of loudly during the day and night quite often

I got in touch with the person who’s being managing the alarms for the estate and when he checked he said every battery is low including the panel battery and siren battery, he said I’m best replacing the siren all together as they don’t normally last that much longer and I’ve been quoted £250 for this with a service too, does that sound about right? Nothing has been done or serviced on this alarm system since 2019 he said.

I said I might get round to fixing it all soon but in the mean time he told me he managed to silence the alarm for a week, the week has ended and it’s going off all the time again. He said the only way I can silence it for longer is by paying £55 a year to this home control app and he can do it through that for me and then fix it when I’m ready if I want too

does all this information sound correct?

is there no way I can stop this alarm going off with out these expensive battery’s or paying for the app in the short term

any help would be appreciated

Good price

Short term take all batteries out and turn of the alarm completely yourself

Or ask them for a price for decommissioning probably the same tho

App prices vary but near enough

Depending on where your external siren is you need to know how to open that aswell

Open all detectors

Open main panel and disconnect battery

You need to be careful of mains electric

No because even if you silence the panel

There's no garuntee you won't trigger the bell with a low battery and not being able to stop the external bell siren

If you had a handy man who knows basic electric he could probably butcher it off cheaper but probably you won't be able to use it again

All the prices quoted are cheap IMO, as others have said though if your not using it then ask for a price to decommission it rather than one to fix it for another 5 years.

Personally I wont leave my house without arming the alarm, and wouldnt be without one

Yeah but I’m just wondering for the upkeep of them is there that much benefit to them.

If someone breaks in there probably going to get away with robbing the place still anyway https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@14.0.2/assets/72x72/1f937-200d-2642-fe0f.png

Well apart from the deterrent factor of a good working system, which has some correlation to reducing attempted break ins.

If it operates as it should, it alerts all the neighbours (if they investigate or not). More importantly the burglars will not hang around.

I've known customers were before I installed an alarm for them they had burglars spend several days making a mess of the place.
