Guest Bigh Sigh Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 My Father recently passed away; his house is fitted with an OPTIMA XM6 but we don't know the code. I have the manual and have followed the instructions on resetting to factory defaults but the procedure was unsuccessful. I also tried to reset the NVM by bridging pins * and ** but this was also unsuccessful. The PCB has the following product code markings "2BF 048/03/3-3" and "2BF048.07.4634". The panel is quite old but I know that Dad fitted a replacement PCB 2-5 years ago. I understand the need not to post publicly, so any help by mail is gratefully received. Si

Si 35968[/snapback] Commiserations Si, I too lost my father a year ago, it's a messy business sorting it all out. Did you power the system down (batt and mains) before shorting the reset pins on power up?
FASTCAR Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hi Si , Are you using the XM4 manual , if so add 4 to the pin mumbers that are given ( XM6 has 2 extra zones - 4 extra terminals), as already posted , ensure both battery and mains are off - then wait about 10 secs before re-applying power. Regards.

Though when I powered up I connected the battery first and not sure if I reconnected the mains. When the power was connected the panel made a two-tone noise rather than "with no alarm condition, with a cleared NVM and in self test mode" as described in the manual. One thing that occured to me was that Dad fitted a switch to the external bell sounder so that he could turn it off if there was a problem. As this was switched off during the procedure I wonder if the unit detected a fault? Maybe a red herring. Si

Guest essbs Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Hi Si I have a problem with an Optima XM6, which now acts in the manner you described (Jan o5). I cannot find the instructions or any of the original paperwork. Any help would be appreciated.
Guest essbs Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Hi There was a fault with a rectifier bridge, that is now repaired. When I connect it to the mains, the LED for zone 2 illuminates once and goes out immediately. The mains LED stays on and no other LEDs operate. The speaker emmits a two tone warning. I have no instructions for the alarm but I believe the code may have defaulted to the original factory setting. Do I need to connect the battery before connecting th mains? Should I then enter the factory code and press re-set? Hope this is understandable.
FASTCAR Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Hi , is the alarm in-situ or on the repair bench?. Check you have 13vDC at AUX and battery leads , are all fuses intact. Have you tried 0123 default user code. Regards. B)
Guest essbs Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Not cured yet. The box is on the workbench with the zone connections shorted and the anti-tamper depressed. As soon as I connect a battery, the alarm (two tone) sounds. The LED for zone 2 lights temporarily. I have tried entering the old number and then pressing the reset button but no change. I tried entering the factory default and then pressing the reset button but no change. A tone is generated every time I press a button so the keypad is connected. I notice that at the bottom of the PCB, inputs 21, 22 and 23 are marked +, - and SET respectively, with 13 between 21 and 22. Do I need to apply +13V to 23 (0V to 22) to re-set the memory to the factory defaults? Any recommendations? Ian
