Guest Crills Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 I have recently self installed a security system based on the Sterling 10 control panel and RKP from Pyronix. I am having problems setting it up. Some features are fine but when I try to carry out a walk test the RKP seems to freeze on me. Also I am unable to set the system. The control panel is the transistor version. Any advice your members can offer would be much appreciated.
p&ralarms Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 We stopped using the sterling 10 as they became a pain. They often freeze when you try a walk test. an easier way to do this is to arm the system and have somwone walk throught the sensors whilst is it setting. As each sensor is actviated it should show up on the keypad. Hope this helps. Trade Member
Steve K Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 When you say that you can't set the system, what is the RKP doing? What tones do you get? How are you trying to set it? Personally, having installed in the region of 24 of these, I haven't experienced the walk test 'freezing' on me. Guest Crills Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Steve. When I try setting the alarm with the master code the RKP does nothing at all. The only tones I get are single tones for each key pressed. I have linked out the unused zone connections but still no joy.
Guest dale Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Your not still in engineer mode are you? What does it say on the screen? Cause you should get an error message!
Steve K Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 When setting the panel, try 'SET' then 'A' and see if this works. (No code required) If you haven't changed the text from factory presets, if in day mode you should see Sterling 10 on the display. As Dale states, if you are in engineer mode you wont be able to set it. Get out of engineers mode by pressing 'FUNC' 00 (zero zero) then engineers code. Incidentally, you don't need to strap out the unused zones, as you can program the panel to have them permanantly omitted until programmed otherwise.
