Guest dan_cambs Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Hi all, I've just moved house and inherited a Scantronic 9800 alarm system with user and installation manuals, but sadly only 1 user code, which the previous owner found by trial and error... The system was working until I removed a panic button in order to decorate the room. I silenced the internal alarm using the only code I have, but the keypads now display "t8" to show the tamper circuit has been, erm, tampered with. It appears that I need the engineering code to clear this condition, however I don't have the engineering code... If I try an educated guess at some codes, will the system go into alarm state or lock me out from the keypads? Alternatively, can someone confirm that the system reset procedure really does mean that I should re-insert the NVM with the system powered up? In places the manual refers to the "end station lid" - does this mean the main control box, or the remote keypad? Finally - to limit the amount of time the bells are sounding while I try to get the cover off the control panel - does anyone know if the control panel tamper switch is linked to a particular bolt location, or is it just the metal cover? for any help! Dan
Guest Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 this is what i mean colin/peter/dave...i thought you had to be in the game to get member status?????seems not...
Guest Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 but having member status still allows you into areas why diy'ers should not be and allow them amongst us (foe whatever purpose ).....trade areas and guest areas thats all there should be....no in between!!!!look at the trouble it has caused...invite only from now i say...
Paul Giles Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Agree, diy and alarm system should never be allowed and we should do all we can to prevent this. Not just on here but as an industry. We have gone over this topic so many times i think its about time we started taking it to the top. Diy systems just give alarms bad names and we should campaign to stop just anyone installing them. Follow the rules of thatcham and put more pressure on the insurance. Ok so a diy system cant provide monitoring but there should be some regulation stopping people installing a 'neighbour annoyer'! Guest Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Anyone can join this forum and become a member they can then access the member's areas. The member's area is not the same as the Trade areas and trade subjects like panel defaulting ect should only be discussed in the trade areas. When you are in the trade areas the background is red When you are in the members areas the background blue Members can ask whatever questions they like (within the forums rules) we the trade can advise them on the best method forward i.e. if the panel is diy where or how to get spares ect. If you are unsure what ordinary members can see join as a member, you will see they have no access to sensitive information. Pete 37443[/snapback] but alot gets discussed in the member areas that anyone can see,how about a pop up or similar with a warning that its non trade viewing as well..
