Ah, that'll be why then ;)

Still, you'd be struggling to cover your costs on a panel change.

Well have to say that gardtec have never given me a problem yet when it comes to returns. the warrenty is pretty good. Don't forget that lightning and electricle surgees are chargable. No matter what cover they have with us.

It takes the text you have typed, runs it through a database to find invalid words and then alerts you to change them.

:lol :D:lol:

sorry!

you talk some //.B.W.F.//
Sorry Gaz but I agree with most those comments, especially the one about engineers not testing batteries correctly. I know to many engineers who DT with a 12V light bulb for 1/2 hour, and I know just as many that dont bother at all, its almost laughable.

If only every Service Engineer was upto my standards.

As for deleting yer picture, that was down to me, sorry Gaz but the 1 finger salute wasnt appropriate. And neither was your //.B.W.F.// reply that got deleted.

Wheres this going.................?

Not getting a discount on his insurance of £50.00 per year, now he has to call somebody out (not on Contract) so probaly, callout charge, new battery, new panel and installation £150.00 ish and i bet thats cheap.

If a maintence contract was in place he would be getting the discount of £50.00 (insurance) which pays for the maintenence contract then hes covered for callouts and parts at a cheap rate,

I have read this post right ?.................Some People.

I asked the original question because I wanted to get an electrician friend to do the work and wanted to find out what battery to use for certain without opening up the panel and setting the alarm off unnecessarily. Constantly mentioning maintenance contracts is a distraction. I don't have one and frankly the electrician friend of mine will do a better and more through job than most engineers if the quality of other contract engineer personal is anything to go by. The engineers on here are probably the exception in that you take pride in your work and make sure everything is right. Looking in the yellow pages I've got a good chance of getting a complete baboon :) hence the reticence to go down the maintenance route. I quite understand I wouldn't drive a car without servicing but I can check the necessary items myself mostly without having to pay someone else to check it (which all a maintenance contract seems to be). I wouldn't do the same with gas appliances as I don't have the skills to check them.

I also know that strange smells can be bad but obviously if there were a serious problem the alarm would have triggered the rcd on the mains or blown an internal fuse. It hasn't. It is not much warmer than my skydigibox to touch and substantially cooler than the transformer for an old scanner if you left it plugged in for a few hours. The smell is definitely lead acid battery kind of smell, not burning electronics or melting insulation sort of smell.

Nice work chaps.

In a public area some of us have managed to show the public what complete idiots some of the posters on here are. IMHO Gaz is not included in this statement as he was correct, and i think he was defending the comments and accusations about big nationals, and rightly so.

The ones who have effectivly slagged off the industry (engaged typing finger without engaging brain) have showed themselves to be morons.

Just remember no matter how good the service or mainteneance engineer/contract is, sooner or later an alarm system is likely to break down, Mains spikes lightning etc. Some of you wouldnt have jobs otherwise, and maybe some of you shouldnt have jobs in this industry.

I wont go through each post and highlight the stupidity, suffice to say some of you shouldnt be allowed in the trade section if the standard of one or two posts is anything to go by! :realmad:
