Daft question about batteries

I asked the original question because I wanted to get an electrician friend to do the work and wanted to find out what battery to use for certain without opening up the panel and setting the alarm off unnecessarily.

12 Volt rechargeable battery. 2.1Ah , 2.8Ah, 3Ah, 7Ah, etc, etc

Yuasa, Yucel, Texecom, etc, etc

pay someone else to check it (which all a maintenance contract seems to be).

Please read my earlier post!

I also know that strange smells can be bad but obviously if there were a serious problem the alarm would have triggered the rcd on the mains or blown an internal fuse. It hasn't.

Not necessarily. Do you know all your fuses, internal of and relating to the alarm are the correct rating? Do you know what the correct ratings are?

If you don't know......ask.

Sorry Gaz but I'm gonna have to stick up for Pete here. I wouldn't say Pete doesn't like you, he's just taking his duties as a moderator seriously.Remember your public posts and avatar are viewable by anyone. Ian's Santa avatar was not offensive, it was funny and appropriate. Your avatar, although didn't offend me, was offensive and wholly inappropriate. I swear all the time.... with my mates, on a tricky job, when I lose my temper, etc, etc. but this forum is for security professionals to discuss their problems, advise other posters and, yes, to have a laugh, not somewhere to insult people. You make me laugh frequently Gaz, but, in my opinion, you seem to take it too far sometimes, with regards how you 'speak' to people. I know you don't care less what I think, but hopefully Pete and Oldtimer will feel better.

thats your opinion bri..fine...but i say what other people want to but dont....and judging by the amount of pm's i got there are alot on here that agree with me..

oldtime.....i couldnt possibly back up my comments coz im just young(ish) and dont have your knowledge or experience i mean alarms were not what i started out on anyway..but i like to help out so if your ever in need of any advice on anything from to design to installation and commisioning electrical control systems for aircraft carriers & submarines drop me a line

Wow ENG how exciting so how come you have lowered yourself to slag off people on an alarm forum.

Come on lets face it this forum was created for people to get advice and engineers

to get more conversant because lets face it it is an intruder alarm forum.

As someone said if you are going to do it then do it well. If your are going to tackle it with an attitude then dont bother.

As for advice on design to installation and commisioning electrical control systems for aircraft carriers & submarines Pleeeeease give me a break. I have no doubt your ego will want to have another pop at me if so feel free.

Most here will Welcome another Engineers opinions on their replies to posts, we all expect others to step in when advice may be wrong or just need elaborating on.

But simply replying saying were talking //.B.W.F.// and someone calling fellow engineers MORONS is NOT the way to go about things.

THERE IS NO NEED TO GET AGRESSIVE OR FOUL MOUTH ANYONE, THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY BAD LANGUAGE EVEN IF ITS HIDDEN OR DISGUISED.

99% of this forums members ask a civilised question and expect a civilised answer, so if you cant supply one do not bother replying.

TOPIC NOW CLOSED.
