I have a Vista 4110 UXM alarm(with 6127 keypad) that the previous owners of the house had had fitted.

Last night, at 2.45am a loud interrupted external siren began. I didn't recognise the sound and thought it was a neighbor's alarm but then a loud continuous familiar sound came from the keypad.

My alarm was not even set, but I went down and put in the security code which stopped the noise from the keypad.

I thought my alarm was sorted and the interrupted siren was the neighbour's! ;)

It went on for half an hour and then stopped.

Just as I was falling asleep, half an hour later, it started again.

I finally realised it was my alarm and kept tapping in my security code to try and switch it off but had no joy.

Then I turned off the electricity at the fuse box, but still no luck, so I turned electricity back on again.the siren just kept going until it stopped half an hour later.

The keypad display had 09 with the word "CHECK" written underneath on the left hand side of the keypad display.

Once the siren was off, I turned the electricity off again and then tapped in the security code and that cleared the keypad.

Tried to ring the guy who installed it(previous owners had left mobile no)and left a message on his voicemail but have not heard from him yet. The back of the User's manual with details of zones etc has not been filled.

In any case there doesn't seem to be a zone 9. :(

Would really like to get a good night's sleep tonight(was up till 5am) and let my neighbours have one too.

Can anyone help me and explain why this happened and how to prevent a repeat performance tonight??!!

Would be EXTREMELY grateful.... :D

Haven't worked on this panel , but zone 9 is probably Bell Tamper.Either way it sounds like a job for a pro.....with ladders.Post your location and there may be someone local who can help.

Hi,

Thanks for your post.

Just received a call from the guy who installed the alarm.

He says the same thing as you that it is some kind of tamper and is coming to have a look at it.

Fingers crossed :)

If I get no joy, I'll post back

To be honest it sounds like the time to get a service contract from a 24hr approved company.

Look for SSAIB and NSI logos in the advert, that way you can also get insurance discount.

Both inspectorates require companies to provide an engineer to your door within four hours if requested due to call outs.

Good luck!

Hi Temin, Zone 9 is as stated by eng either the panel lid or temper return from the bell, It has to be the bell if it continued after you entered the code. If you feel competent enough you need to redress all the bell connections and re seat the tamper on the bell, Ideally let a forum member in your location come and sort it out (it's cold up them there ladders) and I would recommend a full service as when it's working well the 4110 is a cracking panel.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
