Guest Andy Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Hi, I wonder if anyone could offer some advice to a diyer . Successfully fitted an A1 AJ600N ages (years) ago and everything was fine. The odd '24' (tamper) false alarm, but nothing major. These got more frequent, and after much testing and fault finding, I'm back at the panel bridging the '24' with a wire link. But I still get intermittant 24s - so, I don't know if its the panel or the sounder (sometimes just the panel goes off, sometimes the sounder too). I'm thinking of replacing the panel with a Veritas 8 (or 8 compact) - as I could do with an extra zone, plus the option of a remote keypad, plus if the AJ400N panel is causing the problem, this'l solve it. But what if it's the sounder? Is my next phase of fault finding to change the panel, or the sounder? Texecom seem to do two flavours of each sounder, a basic one, or one with a higher IP rating (although it doesn't seem to say what the IP rating actually is) - is the extra weather proofing worth it? Thanks
Guest dale Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Personally, I would replace the panel with the Veritas R8 or 8C and for the relatively small cost, I would also replace the sounder, for your sitaution I would recommend the Odyssey 1E. The only difference I have found with the odyssey 1 and 1E is that the 1 has two peizo sounders and the 1E only has one, apart from that I havent noticed much of a difference! No offence to A1 but their alarms are for the DIY'r and are well known for problems, so ditch it!
Guest Andy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Thanks Both New panel (and sounder) is on order. I will try Peter's suggestion though - just to get to the bottom of it. The bit I'm not looking forward to is taking the old sounder out - up a ladder, waiting in anticipation of it going off down your earhole! Must be a bit like bomb disposal - but not so terminal. Anyone want a second hand, potentially dodgy, A1 AJ600N ?! Andy
Guest dale Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 This is why us engineers own ear defenders!! D
