Guest Stewart Martin Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 My Optima alarm goes off when not set, and I have noticed that sometimes (not always) the alarm is being triggered by light switches/door bells being activated. The alarm is on the same ring as the cooker so turning it off from the mains is not possible. Can the alarm be disabled while a service is arranged? I have already had to Power Up reset to get a code that works, but would like to turn the thing off totally until such time as I get around to getting it serviced. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Guest Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 What do you mean by "goes off"? If the external siren is activating it could be a fault in the unit itself so disconnecting the panel would have no affect. I would suggest that you book a service call as a matter of some urgency rather than disconnecting everything.

(Tamper Alarm) The alarm is on the same ring as the cooker so turning it off from the mains is not possible. Can the alarm be disabled while a service is arranged? 38089 The alarm should not be wired to your cooker ring. This could be, and probably is, extremely dangerous. Please contact a professional alarm installer and/or electrician as soon as you possibly can. If the cable from the cooker feed to the alarm is not at least 6mm (thicker than normal socket and lighting cable) then it could be carrying more current than it is designed for. Please have this checked out straight away. I have already had to Power Up reset to get a code that works, but would like to turn the thing off totally until such time as I get around to getting it serviced.Any help would be greatly appreciated 38089 I would advise you to turn off the supply to your cooker/alarm and get somone out straight away. You can post your location here and/or get an approved company out the yellow pages. If you don't know......ask.
Guest Stewart Martin Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Thank you all for your response, You put the wind up me and I had a look again in the fuse box and have discovered its on the same ring as the heating and the doorbell. Sorry for the confusion, but that probably answers my question about the alarm going off when I pressed the doorbell the other night. Looks like there are no short cuts here and I need to get somebody in. Thanks for your advice.
Brian c Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 sorry! No problem If you don't know......ask.
