hi all, i did a panel change today. For some stupid reason, i took out a galaxy 18, and replaced with an aritech cd7203 (first one i have ever fitted). I must say it was an experience to install. the panel wont even allow you to wire in a standard 16ohm loudspeaker! so i stuck an led on a windowsill. Lights up when setting, goes off when set! Magic!

Also this business about sticking a restistor in the sab across the neg and tamp. Whats that all about?! I did this and the panel was reading the circuitry within the sab, thus giving the cpu a false reading!!!!! Solution: stuff a relay in the sab! Works fine now.

The programming is quite simple though, although the remote reset procedure is INSANE!

Am I being over the top? Or is this panel genuinely hard work?

cheers

Have to disagree Jef. Yes, the Aritech are a well made panel full of functions, especially the new ones. However...engineer's dream??!! They must be one of the most 'unfriendly' panels I have ever worked with, right up there with the mosiac.

Unfriendly :!:

They have got to be the easiest panel to work on for engineer. Its all there infront of you. And so easy for panel changes. No daisy chain or screen required on your data(except ATS).

I have to agree with Jef about being customer friendly. Unless your just a basic user or on prox its a bit complicated to use.

As for the resistor on the bell tamp, put a 4k7 inline with the neg return and connect it on the right hand terminal of the external tamper in the panel . This is because aritech bells have a switch inside rather than a tamper return.

The engineer lock didnt throw u then

What about audibility through out and outside exit route?

See answer to that above (resistor replaces link in panel).
The programming is quite simple though, although the remote reset procedure is INSANE!

We add a single common code to all our panels, this code will arm but not disarm and has a attribute such as T/Date that will allow user to reset menu, other cust codes are 4 digit Us & Fs, like anything its what your used to. We are dropping this range ready for the EN and moving to the new Castle Care Panel. We are ready for EN now except for the absence of a humble door contact (grade 3)
