fitting box to hanging tiles

hi

i'm going to fit an alarm on my house (i'm a diyer :no: ). but i have hanging tiles from the first floor upwards. has anyone fitted an alarm box (siren) to hanging tiles before? what do you suggest?

any advice appreciated

I confess my reply was a bit obvious, but I dont do alarms myself, but im sure someone will answer you soon enough with a better answer.

You can use grip-fill to mount something on the tiles to fix to. Cut it to the exact size of the bellbox and weatherproof it. Don't forget to check if the gripfill is weatherresistant too. I've drilled some before and it isn't always successful as some tiles break easily.

Perspex sheet works well. :yes:

if there is a facia board at the top of the tiles i would mount it on that

or better still just forget completely about having an alarm system and employ a security guard with a great big dog :lol:

Ditto to what Pete said but cool the drill bit regularly, I usually take the bell lid up the ladder with me and put a cup full of water in it.

And to re emphasise......DO NOT USE HAMMER.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!
