Guest lily12 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Hello Would be very very grateful if anyone could help me, as I feel completely ignorant in this area. I moved into my flat with the Accenta alarm already installed, and I dont have the manual. My alarm has started making a 'chirping' noise every few minutes. Is this because the battery needs replacing? or is there something wrong? It may be obvious, but not to me!, so any advice very gratefully received. Thanks!
Guest Sy278 Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 are you sure its the intruder alarm and not your smoke detector? have been called out to customers who were adamant it was the intruder system before and they have ended up with a large call out bill because it was their smoke detector.
FASTCAR Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Yes, chirping is normally a nearby smoke detector , or have you set a pir detector to chime ?..
JB_ Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 It seems this chirping smoke detector confusion is quite popular then. I've been to two. We're dead clever up north us.
Guest Putbinoot Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 just moved into new house also where mine used to chirp/chime when you walked in the living room, i'm sure someone must have set that up as a joke why would you want it to chime when your in your living room, it was going of all the time. Anyway i'm no alarm engineer but all I had to do was hit the chime button on the panel and all the zones with chime on them lit up, just pressed that number (for me it was zone 2 which covered the living room) so pressed 2 and that was it or did i press chime after pressing 2 anyway give it a go.
Guest dale Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Some engineers may program timers into the panel (if available), this may cause the chime zone to activate on a PIR zone after a predefined time - normally a year. But personally im not into setting service timers. Dale
Guest dale Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Yep, the Texecom range do that as far as I recall, although I have never used the feature, I seem to recall reading about it. Most alarm systems have the ability to set service timers, but I don't think many alarm installers use these features.
