datadiffusion
Hi all, Just thought I should say hello to everyone since it looks like I'll be spending quite a bit of time on these forums having seen some of the quality info out there. My name is Stuart and I'm currently starting up my own Security Systems company which is now called Casa Security. Not to be confused with the US based company of the same name (apparently). Ok, I don't think you'll want my life story but for anyone who can offer any contract work in the Bath / Bristol / Wilts area here it is! I'm a fully qualified Electrician and am currently doing contract work for a medium size contracting firm. I also handle all the alarm work for them, unlike most sparkies they specify a good system, maybe not my personal choice but not tat, most of our systems are LCD Gardtec 816s or more recently the metal 840s. I've done this for about 3 years properly, and been tinkering with electronics and stuff for years. Fitted my first (scantronic) system in between trying to get into pubs and buying White Lightning from the local Threshers at the age of 15. Its still working today, as is the first one I ever sold 6 years ago, when I used to go under the name of 'f-sec'. But to be honest, college and other work has meant that its only now I can be a bit more serious about going it alone. I've just come back from 3 years at MOD London. Great pay, great place to live, but somehow a bit boring. I was doing very specialist CCTV and Comms work, but at least I went on two accredited CCTV courses. In between all that I wasted 5 years of my life studying Radio and Comms systems at Bristol College. It was great, there was this stoned guy who would get an old Marconi HF set, knacker out some components at random while we waited outside and say 'fix that ******!' when we were called back. Because it was HND level we were allowed to join the 3rd year of a degree course directly afterwards, so we all thought, 'why not' and hiked off to Plymouth and graduated. Strange days. Thankfully my parents have given me an office in their house so I'm finally able to do what I've always wanted and Im building a narrowboat which will be home. Maybe not the best of things to be pre-occupied with when you are trying to start out on your own but hey-ho. I've already had lots of offers of support from friends, although I'm sure they just think they will get free shares in the company if I'm sucessful! Hopefully I can help out a lot of you with your Electrical queries when that forum opens - Part P and all that which I have had to explain to nearly every client so far this year! take it easy all, Stu. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
