Guest j3tlk Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Just want to run my system design through some more experienced installers. There are 5 flats in one building which I am planning to divide into 7 areas 5 flats plus communial hall / doors). With a keypad outside each flat controling that flat area, each flat will have one 8xp expander providing ample zones for the flat, these will then be linked to one control panel in the basement. What I wanted to check is that I could program the system to function as desired, with the resident of a flat being able to disarm only their flat, but the site owner bieng able to dissarm or arm all flats. The system would include a number of expanders and keypads, which i understand would need extra power supplies are these best to be located at the main control pannel (preferable) or at each expander. Any help whatsoever would be appricated. Thanks TOM
breff Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 That can be done no problem, but why are the keypads going to be OUTSIDE the doors? Assign keypads to areas so each keypad will only work the area it is assigned to. Assign each flat occupant code only to their area and set as local arm/disarm Assign the owners code to all areas and set as local arm/disarm. If you set the communal area to area A, and put all other areas in Area A Foyer, the communal area will arm when all flats are armed , and disarm when any flat is disarmed. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest j3tlk Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Sounders and Strobes are the main outputs. However the reason for the keypads to be outside the flat doors (bear in mind people still need to pass through two security proximity gates to get in) is so the proximity feature can be used to unset alarm and activate the electric door latch, to open the door. Will this be achieveable with this set up, as each door needs to unlock separatly not all at once. Many thanks for your help. TOM
Monteey Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Yup this is no problem, each expander has 8 fully programmable outputs that can be setup to do pretty much anything, although you may have to drive a relay as they are only rated at 100mA each Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. Monteey Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Im not familiar with the diy Texecom panels but surely when one flat is in alarm it will prevent the other flats from working? Premiers are NOT diy panels, and no it one flat in alarm will not have an effect on any others, the panel is multi-tasking Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. Monteey Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 This is true, just pointing out the facts Mark Hawks Ex BT Openreach Field Service Now Self employed telecom and data engineer www.mphtelecom.co.uk Also back doing sub contract work in the security industry. whistle Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Why not fit a scantronic 9651 in each flat cheap and robust. Each on there own maintenance agrement lots more revenue from the same job. What if you fit the texecom and some one in one of the flats drills the data cable to the expander/rkp doing DIY chances are the lot crashes also are you putting a psu in each flat??. It starts to look expencive to me. :dancsmiley:
Brian c Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I'd agree that fitting a small panel to each flat would be a much better solution. There's be all sorts of problems, as Pete said, with the regulations and probably insurance. The landlord shouldn't have the right to disarm a tenants alarm. As for the door release, you could fit a small, cheap door release to each flat using a standalone proxreader. If you don't know......ask.
whistle Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 why not fit a access system with say 50 codes and give each flat a code and when they move out charge the new tenant to come an change the codes and demo the system ( yet more revenue ) just get a 6 way firmax door entry ( cheep ) mag locks for each exit door exit buttons for each door green break glass for each door Last time i fitted one i fitted visonic code lock unit , upto 50 codes and would put a time delay on the mag lock when the release button pressed on the phone for 10 sec. All the above is cheap to buy and will last ages.
