Hello all,

I've just moved in to a flat. I'm looking to secure it and like the idea of having a auto dialler to notify me when the alarm goes off. Its on the 3rd floor, but just in case I want to be safe than sorry. I have been looking at:

Yale HSA3800 (too many bits for small flat)

Respose SA5 (again, too many bits)

etc.

Is there a autodialler with say, 2 PIR, 1 door contact, and a bell box?

I'd prefer it the alarm was wirefree. Can anyone recommend pls?

thanks

If the 3rd floor happens to be on the top floor and have access to the loft, you have NO excuse for going wireless!

But being more helpful... OK, I would firstly avoid either of those systems you mentioned anyway, not really for the reasons you mentioned but because they simply aren't very good at all, despite the marketing hype.

And I'm afraid everyone here, that regulaly contributes, will tell you the same thing. Even of you are not on the top floor, 9 times out of 10 you will find that a decent professional installer will be able to hide most, if not all of the wires from view.

Assuming you have 1 door, 1 contact would probably be fine (stating the obvious perhaps but...). I cant comment on 2 PIRs as I dont know how many rooms you have, although I will assume being the 3rd floor the only realistic route is via the internal staircase, and there are no adjacent flat roofs etc... with fire escapes.

I think what I am trying to say is that given it is probably a pretty small installation, a local professional could install a much better system than you could DIY for maybe not much more money. And a decent Autodialler could be easilly fitted too.

I know this maybe wasnt the respsonse you were hoping for, but we could probably help some more with a few more property details etc...

Stu.

p.s If you post your location too then someone here would probably be happy to do a proper survey / quote.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

I'm in Putney, SW London. Yes the flat is the top floor, but I don't have access to the loft.

Anyone want to give me a quote?

thanks

Great, just moved back to Bath from near there! :D

P.S You'll find that maybe this board will get busier a bit

later on, although being Friday maybe not...
