abbz Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 we at secom still go and remove equipment from premises, dont remove many residentials though mainly commercial.
Guest Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 On the larger nationals the co I work for always phone the national to come and collect the panel, its just courtesy, and in some cases the panel is their legal property still - and we dont want law suits do we LOL
morph Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 on the subject of takeovers, how many of you have been to a site where the prev co has taken out the panel(dont start col )only to find the cables have been cut off in a way they cant be reused personally any system i remove i will leave the cables as they came out and mark them up for the next co' along with the spec & readings(im a nice guy really) any stories?? 44989 I agree if you loose the job at least have the decency to leave the cables intact, really petty to cut them short. Assuming of course that they are installed to a reasonable standard. Although I do reccomend to customers that if we are taking a system over and the customer is getting them to take there panel out, that we do it box it up for collection that way no problems and if they are being funny about the cables chuck in a roll or two of cable.
morph Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 we at secom still go and remove equipment from premises, dont remove many residentials though mainly commercial. 44994 I can see the point of removing kit from commercials and in a lot of circumstances the kit is rented and its fairly easy to prove ownership with commercial property and businesses as the law is different. Do Secom sell outright to commercial, rent or both?
abbz Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Secoms have an amazing stock of old used panels, We dont save used panels new ones are cheap enough.Pete 44998 most go back into service stores and many have got myself out of //.B.W.F.// like when a vista 4140 blows up or an old abi 8 pcb dies. last week had a vista comm board go faulty and they arent the easiest thing to get hold of, luckily enough we had a few that had been ripped out and saves all the time and hassle of replacing a whole conplete system just for a comm board. oh and before someone replies with fit a standalone digi, job was on point id.
abbz Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Do Secom sell outright to commercial, rent or both? just like any national company that have had takeovers from years back, there are both rental and owned systems out there. not quite sure on new installations but i would have a guess they do both types.
Guest Mr Nice Guy Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Cor Blimey Guvnor! You must live in Windsor Castlr for //.National Installer.// to want to chatge you that much to swap out a panel in a domestic. I'd travel from Mars for that kind of money for a 3 hour job! I suggest you remove all components yourself and box 'em up ready for the //.National Installer.// engineer (and have a stern word about the salesmans targets) and find a descent small SSAIB registered firm within 20 miles of you. Do this and I guarentee (so long as you take out an annual maintenance contract - for no more than £60.00 plus vat I must add) you won't pay more than £350.00 plus the dreaded vat! Good luck. Paul C You could choose an NSI company as well as a SSIAB company. (Paul we do not descrminate on this forum)

Guest Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Fair enough Pete, slightly hasty response maybe. You get my drift though, maybe now Mr Nice Guy is a member there'll be some more 'interesting discussions'?
