Smoke Screen Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Secom do the smoke generators on Blockbuster and the fire alarms on Blockbustersa have exactly that HEAT DETECTORS.Jef nope sorry jef, busters dont all have heat and the fire alarm does activate when the smoke goes off and the brigade does get called even though we programme an o/p for smoke active to transmit to arc. crazy i know but i think its more of a customer requirement, also we use the protec smokes in other places and ive yet to see one that doesnt trip the fire alarm. Sorry for delay in response (I have been away), but please find the answers to your questions: With reference to the fire brigade, there are a number of measures (some have already been mentioned): 1. Provide relay outputs which take a channel on Red Care. Then if the arc see the following sequence: Channel 3: Intruder Channel 6: Smoke Channel 1: Fire They can see that someone has broken in, they have set off the smoke system which in turn has set off the fire alarm. Get the police there first. Fine in theory, but it is not fool proof by any stretch of the imagination. 2. Provide relay outputs that inhibit the fire panel from signalling. This is fool-proof, but carries with it an inherent risk (what if someone breaks in and sets about with an arson attack). The thinking behind this is that we are not actually stopping the fire alarm sounding or a signal being sent to warn of an intruder so an emergency response will be generated, but the fire brigade may be delayed. 3. On an analogue addresable fire panel you can swap key detectors for heat or CO detectors (which will not be activated by security smoke). Then the fire panel should be programmed to only signal if both types of detector are activated. This is my preferred option. That said, our office is set up to inform both the police and fire brigades of any new installations in an area. We do this by mail and recieve a response from the authorities confirming that the installation has been added to the alarms database. All fire brigades carry a "risk" card with them so that they know the appropriate action to take when attending a security smoke protected premises. Also we supply 85% of the worlds fire brigade training facilities with equipment for fire training so in theory there are very few Fire officers who are not familiar with our smoke or the measures to take when confronted with it. For more information on the work we do with fire brigades you can have a look at Concept Factory webpage. This site details our fire training generators and their applications.
