Guest thewatcher Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Hi I have come to the conclusion I want a digital CCTV setup at my premises, controllable from PC / Internet and the only type that appears to be suitable for my requirements is the Geovision (probably the 1000 / 16 version) I also need a few additional body cameras (about 3) and probably two or three exterior ptz domes (the lower price bracket type) as well. What I am looking for is a company that has experience in not only supply / install of CCTV but also the relevant install & set up of this through Geovision systems. Has anyone out there installed & used this system? Can you recommend this & supply references and a quote? I look forward to hearing from you, regards A friendly customer with money to spend for the right setup looking for a Professional Co with the right attitude & experience
Rich Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 www.norbain.co.uk Check out the cctv section on there for more products that may be of use. Also make sure the system is DPA Compliant if you are using zoom lenses and pan and tilt cameras.
Guest Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 What makes you think the Geovision is the only system that does this? If I were you I'd leave the specifying to the install co. Ring round a few local companies, get some quotes and see what they come up with.
Guest thewatcher Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 What makes you think the Geovision is the only system that does this? This is why I am asking in the forum for advice! The geovision system appears to give me everything I need and more to boot, I have been around - I am now an IT specialist with a fairly extensive history / background in other areas of the security industry, so this route therefore makes sense to be the one for me, can you therefore advise / recommend an alternative to the Geovision system that can offer as many & the same features as it does? If I were you I'd leave the specifying to the install co. Ring round a few local companies, get some quotes and see what they come up with. I have contacted numerous local & national co's and had umpteen quotes, unfortunately none seem to be able to offer me a) what I know I can get & b- what I actually need & want for this site, they are also extremely expensive for what they are offering as a whole! Bottom line is I am not like everyone else, I am after EXACTLY what I need, I am not on the tightest of budgets, I want what I need, I want to fully understand the options and control the system myself, I know I can have it within my budget and am fully aware of the actual cost of obtaining this level of features & functionality at trade prices, which I can also obtain for myself, yet I am not prepared to pay what appears to be (in the quotes so far) a 65% mark-up for supply & install over & above the actual cost of the equipment just to have someone else install it. Don
Rich Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Why dont you get someone in to design you a system to exactly what you need. Buy the equipment at trade price and then pay a subcontractor with experience of working in listed buildings to install the system for you, under your supervision if you like. I sent you a PM with a contact in Kent, did you get it? If your an IT specialist then why dont you look into installing a network and use ip cameras and ip domes?

Selsport69 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 We use the Geovision kit over here in South Africa. I had never touched it till then. Not a bad bit of kit. Fitted 3 of them so far. Once you do the first the rest are a doddle. So user friendly as well. Just make sure its set up correctly as over here they tend to quote the wrong size of harddrive. Kev
