I really must, must get my meter calibrated, any advice on who to use, or where to go? Also any advice on part p training would be handy. I have looked at act but they are too far away. thanks Mark

Mark

We buy a new calibrated master meter (assume you mean multi meter) every year and then calibrate all the other meters to this one thus having a NAMAS audit trail on all meters. A meter with calibration does not have to be as expensive as the fluke in my tool case.

Hi Jeff, I had considered that but as a one man business, I am trying to find a cheaper oops I mean more cost effective way. You may be right though, just buy a new meter each year with a certificate.

I've just had a look on there, they are not accepting anymore user registrations. Is this a temporary situation? I did note free meter calibration though, thanks.

Our local trade counter has an 'open day' where you can bring in your meters etc.. for calibration for a reasonable cost - but best of all you get it back the same day. Ours is Wilts wholsale but I would imagine most might do the same.

A useful thing I have made is a test block of known resistors, and a diode, checked on a decent fluke bench meter, that I test the meter against every morning that I'm using it. That way you dont have to wait until calibration day to find out the last 11 months of readings were crud!

Stu.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

It said this when I followed the link register now! under the lost password link. I have since found another link to membership enquiry form and have submitted it, so hopefully I can find out about full membership etc.
