Guest serge Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Hi all. We have Continuum intelligent building system (Andover Controls) with 2 controllers CX990-4M-4T (4 MB without coprocessor) with 30 modules AC-1Plus on each controller. It takes 5-8 seconds for a controller to scan all inputs and execute all programms which is not good for the alarm system , i.e. a person opens a door by a card and enters the room but as it has not succeded to disarm an alarm goes off. The questions are as follows: 1.Will there be any increase in speed if the controller is upgraded to a 8 MB version with a coprocessor? 2. Will there be any increase in speed if network version of software is installed instead of single-user version? 3. Will there be any increase in speed if the third controller is added? 4. Is there any optimal way to run programms on the controller? Is it better to run several small programms or one big one? 5. How make a door programm start after the door is open only instead of running it all the time (just like triggers on a numeric)? 6. Is it posible to run the door programm on the PC instead of the controller?
Guest oldtimer Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Serge You are on the wrong forum. The Andover BMS (Building Management system) is a totally differant animal altogethr. Although it monitors alarms these are not security but building ie chillers , airconditioning, boilers ,chillers etc
Brian c Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I have never worked on one, but from looking at the site and product info, it looks like that the security side of it has been added as an afterthought, or just an extra. As oldtimer says, it's a different animal. One way to overcome it is to install a dedicated alarm and just link it to the BMS If you don't know......ask.
C.S TEK. Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 you could always put relays on to the lock power and run a pair parallel over the alarm contact, hence when the lock releases it trips the relay which closes the pair and shunts the door contact.
