secure4 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Probably like the rest of the Draper stuff, poor. 48544 Strange you should say that, Knipex is made by draper! Regards. Mark secure4.me.uk digital cctv
Guest Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Never used Knipex, don't know how good\bad they are. Draper don't actually make anything, they just rebadge stuff so the drivers could be from a completely different source than the cutters.
secure4 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I know that some sparkys swear by them! As for draper not making stuff, are you sure? I used to be in charge of their account when i worked for a print packaging company many years ago, and when i visited their premises they seemed to be making stuff, but then that was 13 years ago! I now the Knipex stuff is made in germany, they do two types. Blue / Red handles = normal. Yellow / Red handles = 1000v VDE. Regards. Mark secure4.me.uk digital cctv
Guest Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 They might make some bits, I know most of the Draper stuff is just rebranded tat. Go with CK VDE kit, no need to worry about buying rubbish then!
dpaengineer Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Knippex rule the world. They are alot better than CK Redline. If you can, go with Knippex, you wont be sorry. Trade Member

If you can, go with Knippex, you wont be sorry. 48558 Here here, My knippex have lasted me 8 years so far and they are still sharp, the only reason I have bought new ones is either loosing them, or that nasty 230v. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
secure4 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I had heard exactly the same from a sparky friend of mine, he says the only way to take chunks out of them is to cut through live cables!!! Regards. Mark secure4.me.uk digital cctv
bellman Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I had heard exactly the same from a sparky friend of mine, he says the only way to take chunks out of them is to cut through live cables!!! 48578 Also a Knippex Fan, gone through 2 pairs in the last 15 years. 1st pair was only changed because of a live wire "incident" that took a chunk out of the blade, mind you, it did make stripping cables easier 2nd pair is still in use today, and they are 7 years old and still sharp. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
Smart Electrics Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Yep cant beat Knippex or Kew Technik for cutters and pliers I use both. Blooming expensive though.,
breff Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Snap-On myself, £37+vat, thats just for a small sprung set. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
