Guest mmh Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Hi, I've Veritas panel with a Blu STU. The Blu STU was playing up and I've been told may need replacing. Do these units go wrong often, only had it a year or 2? How much do these normally cost? Thanks, M
norman Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Check the warranty label it may still be under warranty, like everything else it will either last a lifetime or a couple of years, no real reason for failure. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest mmh Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I think it maybe out of warranty, only just though. How much do they cost to buy? Thanks, Mo

Guest mmh Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 We cant tell you that im afraid. 48569 Why am I not allowed to know? Just wanted to know the rough price of the unit itself so I am aware when getting quotes for one to be installed, should this one fail.
Guest mmh Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 It depends on the modelcand type of RedCare but they retail from around £180.00 upwards.Usual faults are bt engineers meggaring the telephone line, and lightning strikes. Have you had ADSL Broadband recently fitted? if you do not have a filter fitted this will effect how your STU works. Regards Peter 48642 At last thankyou for the information very useful, BTW it's a Blu STU 8 The STU not being able to be monitored most probably was down to BT engineers working on the line. I've had broadband for a while but have had extention sockets fitted off the Master socket. In what way might the lack of adsl filter affect the STU? Thanks, Mo
whistle Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Is it faulty or just in line fault? Have you got your arc to try and up the stu? if the stu if down both LEDs will be flashing on and off Are you getting churps on the line and last but not least is the red care on the correct line??

There were a lot of chirps on the line but now it's OK. The volts on the line were around 16v, I believe the normal volts on a line should be between 40 and 50.
whistle Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Sounds like a BT fault to me although they will never admit to it. Just as well you did not spent £180 upwards on a new stu
Smart Electrics Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Sounds like you have a high resistance fault on one of the legs A or B. (Semi disconnection) Have you tried reporting your line as faulty. You can report the fault online.BT Faults
