Guest Deryck Tintagel Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 I have fitted a few panels over the last few years - usually ADE or Gardtec - but am now looking to fit something better for a friend. I am thinking along the lines of a Pyronix Sterling or Veritas Excel both with LCD keypads. Does anyone have any comments or better recommendations?
JB_ Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 We use a lot of the Menvier networker range and they're top notch in my opinion. Good for small (TS 690 with 6+2 zones), large (TS690ID 30+2 zones) to massive (TS 900 or 2500). They all use the same keypad and come in exactly the same steel box with plenty of standoff from the wall for cables and tons of cable entry points. Oh and there's 3 diffrent types of keypads too, a basic LED, a middle of the range Starburst text and a top spanky Full lcd text. Only ever had a problem with 2 so far that we've fitted, 1 that refused to dial out using the onboard Digi-modem and the other i blew up myself.
Guest Adrian Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 B) I think the Menvier stuff is pretty good I have a TS690 ID with LCD keypad in my home. Only slight problem is its expensive if you only need 6-8 zones on an audible only system (I have 21 zones in use) I normall fit the Sterling 10 (LCD) from pyronix the few I have fitted work ok and the end user is more than happy. paul fae kings Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 fitted a few sterling 10 panels myself and never had any probs.Would agree that best option is galaxy 18 if money aint tight. As far as menvier goes the 690 is a good panel, not keen on the 690id though.
Guest clive Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 I too like the Menvier kit - solid contstruction - logical programming etc. I use the Texecom Excel with LCD keypad to good effect - nice panel at a more competitive price. If you are looking for a real little cracker the Eurosec with LCD is excellent value although the LCD display is tiny compared to the Texecom. If you need an on board digimodem the Ademco XPc is good value Clive
dinefwr Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 All these panels, think the guy is even more confused now!
Guest Deryck Tintagel Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 Thanks for the replies. Looks like a Pyronix could be on the list - a compromise between cost and functionality. Will have a look at the Menvier kit to balance the decision. I also have a query about PIR but will post in the relevant section.
Guest Deryck Tintagel Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Just bought the kit for the new installation. I changed my mind after talking to the wholesaler - I bought the Texecom Veritas Excel. It's a bit more expensive than the Pyronix but the RKP looks a bit more robust. Start fitting next weekend. Thanks again for the advice.
Guest dale Posted November 2, 2003 Posted November 2, 2003 The excel is a nice system, that should last you a long time. Good luck with it and if you need any help give us a shout! Dale
