Guest andy jinks Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Think he should have gone with the eurosec
Guest oldtimer Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 The Pyronix sterling is a good panel with regards 100 event log and has a good front end that is easy to use. Also if you have any spare zones you can program them as a tamper circuit and then split up the global tamper for ease of fault finding. If you are unsure the phone the sales dept of the manufacturer and they will send you a copy. By the sounds of it you seem quite happy using the more basic panels but my tip would be is to buy the panel 1-2 weeks before you do the job get a beer and a mains lead. It is the only way unless you want to be scratching your head in front of the customer.
Guest Deryck Tintagel Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Mmm ... the reasons I chose the Texecom are as follows: I fitted a Gardiner Gardtec 370 or 570 (can't remember which) last Xmas and that didn't impress me too much. The problem with that panel is the fact that it is so small and the wiring has to go to the terminal block on the hinged lid of all places. I couldn't get the neat job that I normally want but the panel was free so beggars can't be choosers. I have also maintained system with the older Gardtec panel and am not keen. So I didn't fancy repeating the Gardiner experience. On the plus side, the features and programming were easy once I read the instructions a few times to get the hang of the fact that part set selection actually disables zones rather than enabling them in other panels that I have fitted. I saw the Pyronix panel in the wholesaler and I am assuming that it was the Sterling 10 but it was a hoofing great box! far bigger than the Excel A friend has fitted a Veritas Excel to his home and that hasn't given him any trouble and was easy for a good DIYer to instal and program - I did sort a couple of problems he had with it - connecting extension speakers to the bell output and not programming the maximum number of alarms allowed before the bells output is disabled on alarm.
