Guest sparkyjim Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 I've just moved into a house with an A1 AJ600N alarm. The previous owners said it was disconnected recently due to the number of power cuts they had been experiencing. Anyway, on reconnecting the power the POWER ON light and the PA light are on but no sound and the keyboard is not responding. Obviously the best advice would be bin it but for the short term I'd like to get it up and running. Any advice very welcome even just a contact number for A1 would help. The one I have is no longer in use. Sparkyjim
dinefwr Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Try a good battery in it, the battery will act as a capacitor on the ac input. The omnicrons don't have a very stable power supply and the surge will cause the panel to "lock up". If the last owner disconected it because of power cuts chances are the battery had gone with him!
Guest sparkyjim Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Thanks for the reply. The battery is still in the panel but has been left disconnected and probably won't come back to life. I think the panel probably is locked out. I had an A1 panel lock out once before after a power surge at my previous house and the guys on the A1 helpline talked me through unlocking it. As I said though the phone number I have is not in use any more. Sparkyjim
dinefwr Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 A1 stopped trading a few years ago. Usually removing the power is enough to reset them but to clear the NVM: To reset the AJ600N Switch off the mains power to the panel. Remove the cover. Disconect the battery backup. ( the outside bell may sound as it has its own battery) With the mains and battery diconected, place a flat blade screwdriver across the two pins of the NVM RESET on the pcb board. With the screw driver in place, reconect the battery and wait 5 sec. Remove the screwdriver, replace the front cover and restore the mains power. The panel has now been defauted to factory settings. If this did not work, repeat but also disconect the wires going to the outside bell and sab ( as there may be current from the SAB battery feeding the panel.
Guest sparkyjim Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 That seems to have done the trick. Still need to check the sounder actually works as it didn't go off when powered it down. Just need to work out how to change the time settings and stuff now. Thanks for your help! Sparkyjim
