I don't have any Meridian manuals, but I do have a rather classy dark blue Meridian cup with a BT/Nortel logo on it.

Offers anyone (balloon on a stick excluded) :)

Nah, you're probably not, more than likely a coincidence.

Whilst the NEC system has RJ11 connectors an increasing number of SME's are having structured RJ45 network cabling installed for all the communication systems then patching them in to whatever telecoms system they are using at the time - makes it easier to upgrade in the future. We tend to prefer this kind of installation and just either make up RJ45 - RJ11 telecoms cables for the phones or use mod-taps.

The NEC system is so popular cause like Simon says.... they are god damn cheap!

There is some intresting VOIP stuff out at the minute and we are increasingly specifieng this for customers.... and the prices are getting much cheaper for the gear.

Still different to everyone else so you need to use RJ11 mod-taps so another item to carry around. Suppose it's easier than using LJU's but still in the list of cons here. ;)

Hello Rob

You are going to struggle like mad to get hold of those manuals, you have been on the course and are ex-BT systems and you are struggling - imagine what it is like for the rest of us.

I have a box full of various Options 11 stuff - sys admin/manuals etc, which I occasionally pull out to check on things etc (for interconnections with Option 11, I don't maintain it), but I would not be keen to let them go as would not be able to replace them.

There are a few independent Meridian Options 11 maintainers, they will probably not let theirs go unless you are wroking for them, perhaps offer your sevices as a contractor and they might help you out?

Occasionally you might see them on Ebay.

I think your choices of getting them off the OEM are as about as likely as getting them off BT - it is very much a closed system for support.

Regards

Simon

Well I guess you contact the likes of Best4Systems mentioned above and the bigger maintainers such as Maintel and offer your services.

There are actually a couple of Options 11 independent specialists as well - I will drop an email off and get the name of one from a pal and reply here later.

OK Rob here is one for you who do Options 11 maintenance - DXP, website addy is http://www.dxp.co.uk Tel: 01942 770000 (head office in Lancashire).

I have also been told that quite a few of the large maintainers want to get into Options 11 maintenance so dropping your details to lots of them would do you no harm as it is often hard to find Options 11 contractors (I have tried before now on someones else's behalf).

You could also approach the likes of Central Telecom, Service Direct etc who all may want the details of Options 11 contractors as they all specialise in maintenance as well as Installation.

Simon
