Guest gerardcraggs Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hello all I am wanting to run a cctv camera through my laptop.but i can't find a cable that converts from bnc to usb, And there does not seem to be an adapter card on the market either. Any help would be very grateful. Regards Gerry
amateurandy Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Basically USB uses a completely different electrical interface to a CCTV camnera, so you can't convert with a cable. If you try you'll damage the laptop or camera or both. You need an active device.
ian.cant Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I doubt you will find one either. Your probably going to need a BNC to AV (easy to get hold of) and then an AV to USB, not exactly a lead more of a piece of kit (not so easy to find, seen them on Ebay tho). You could try stripping down a USB web-cam and using the connections on a CCTV camera, not saying it will work but i would have thought it was possible.
breff Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 What about one of these. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...oduct_uid=82615 and a phono/bnc converter. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest Peter James Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 We can sell you a usb DVR card for around £60 bnc to usb with software for viewing and recording. Its not the best of quality kit but it does the job. Pete
Nova-Security Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Or a better way get a DVR with LAN and view the camera over a network. www.nova-security.co.uk www.nsiapproved.co.uk No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.
breff Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Can any one help me then, I want to use my PDA as a mini-monitor. Im looking for some sort of sd card with composite in?????? The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Tried that once, didn't turn up much. I was looking for a SD or CF to composite out and possibly in for sending the sat nav to the LCD TV in the van. I was sure I'd seen one somewhere but now I think I may have been dreaming it.
Nova-Security Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Is the PDA WiFi ? www.nova-security.co.uk www.nsiapproved.co.uk No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.
