Guest parkersecurity Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Hi All, A neighbour close by has just been burgled, and it brought home the fact that if the alarm went off no one these days cares! So I want to install an speech dialler. My system is an Accenta G3 Mini. I know that I can buy the dialler from TLC for £40.00 and when installed it is powered from the controller, but I am concerned about opening the cover and making the connections. Stupid question number 1 . If I install this myself are there any obvious downfalls I should look out for? Stupid question number 2 . Should I leave it to the professionals, and call someone? (South West Wales) If so how much should I expect to pay? Any help would be very much appreciated. I bow to you
Guest Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 1. Yes- you could blow the panel if you dont downpower it first, this may lead to corruption of programming on repowering up. 2. Yes In my honest opinion if your not sure what your doing. regards Dave.

I bow to you 56950 if in doubt call in a proffessional - that way it will work properly as and when it should. costs will vary as to whether you get a big company or a small company to do the work. i,m sure somebody on here will be able to do the job at a reasonable cost paul THE BLACK KNIGHT "Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company."
Mavrick_001 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 We can't tell you how to down-power your alarm, that would be silly, it's not a hard job but I'd suggest getting someone local to do it for you, they might be better off supplying the kit as well as they will be happy working with their own stuff. Guest parkersecurity Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Thanx for the advice all . I decided to have a go myself , and found it quite easy . The only problem I had was when I unplugged the battery the exterior bell box rang for about 20 mins . And suprise suprise no one knocked on the door or was at all interested that it had gone off! So a speech dialler is a must. I guess if I had the engineer code for the Accenta I would of been able to place the unit in silent mode, but I dont Thanx again.
Guest parkersecurity Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Forgot to mention that I was very impressed by the technical support guys at ADE . I gave them 2 questions about the informa speech dialler, and they had the answer straight away. At first I could not get the unit to respond to anything , although it had power. They advised I do an NVM reset. Which worked. Secondly I could not get the follow me function to work, and silly me I had not programmed it correctly. But ADE came to the rescue. Anybody else happy with their tech guys?
JB_ Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Do me a favour and send yourself a test message from the Informa, but when it rings you just wait 20-25 seconds and then pick up the phone. When I installed one of these it started to play the recorded message back to me before I'd even picked up the phone, so all I ended up with was complete silence. As it was the first one we'd used we just sent it back and never let the Informa darken our door again, i'd be interested to know if it was a faulty unit or just simply a very bad piece of equipment.
Guest Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 i'd be interested to know if it was a faulty unit or just simply a very bad piece of equipment. 57717 I can confirm it is a completely diabolical piece of equipment. It's only plus point is it's extreme cheapness, I hate the things from an engineers and end users perspective.
Guest parkersecurity Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I did carry out quite extensive testing banghead , and yes the informa starts sending the voice message before the recipient has picked up the phone. But as a user this does not concern me, as at the end of the day I just want to know if the alarm has been activated :HearSeeSpeak: . And it does this. It can seem strange that when you pick up the phone you are at the end of the recorded message, but as its my voice I know what to do. RUN HOME !!!! Of course I am not an alarm engineer, and only purchased the item that was recommended by ADE, but it works for me.
