Service Engineer Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 False alarm reduction and the complete security of all devices attached to the alarm system are standard features on ALL compliant UK alarm systems. The control panel and Bellbox, have there own backup batteries and every device connected to the system is fully tamper protected. ........................................................ Guest Robert Trent Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Ok that makes sense. Reading a different thread I learned that many alarm panels will active the sounder by grounding the sounder's signal wire. In other words, a relay closes and connects the signal to 0 volts. So my next question is this: How is the wire running from the control unit to the sounder made tamper resistant?
morph Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I think you should be buying a copy of our standards as this would help you understand the different elements that go to making up our systems. BS4737 is a good starting point, you can get a copy at the following link: BSI homepage Allthough this standard will be replaced by the new European Standards and as there is alot of dicussion there final form and true implementation date we are all still working with BS4737.
