Guest derek miller Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Please Please help!! Recently moved house and inherited non working veritas r8 alarm c/w cqr sigma bell. After reconecting wires battery and fuses in main panel the internal alarm is all working well. Unlike the external alarm. On opening the bell box i found both led connectors removed and another connector (sp1 or sp2)removed and both battery wires cut. I have re-fitted all of these (putting the mystery connector on sp1). I have no manual or install instructions for the bell and would appreciate a copy or link to these or if some one could walk me through the commissioning steps if (if any). Would also be helpfull if anyone knows what the bell status is depending on the flashing led's and what it means. PS Everything is fine with bell disconnected but when connected the keypad doesn't seem to accept codes etc. and/or sirens and beeps go off all over the place.
Rich Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 If you post your general location someone here may be able to check out the system for you. Someone may be able to point you in the direction of the user manual but you will not be able to get an installation manual unless you are trade. My advice is find an intruder alarm company in your area that are willing to repair the system for you.
Guest Guest Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I live in Aberdeen (Scotland). How much would it cost me to call someone out to have a look. And would it be cheaper to fit a new bell and would I get install instructions with it?
buddyboy Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 you should get instuctions with any sab you buy. they are all mostly simple to fit and wire. Trade Intruder
Guest Guest Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Someone may be able to point you in the direction of the user manual but you will not be able to get an installation manual unless you are trade. Thats what I was told about the r8 but I tracked one down online
Zak Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 If you know what you are doing then buy a new sounder and do itself. It will be cheaper than calling out an engineer. Installation manuals are becoming more protected for reasons of security and professionalism. You won't be able to get one on this site; doesn't mean that you won't get one someone else. Guest Guest Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Ty Buddyboy. Cant help thinking I'm overlooking something simple like a set up procedure, but a new bell is always an option. Can anyone answer thes few questions for me? Would I be able to use existing wiring? Also is there any difference or anything I should know when adding a new bell to an already working system? (Minus the bell of course) And how much does a bell cost?
Guest Guest Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Any further offers of help would be welcomed before I go out and buy a new one
Deltaseven Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Assuming there is no fault on the panel or the cable, replacing the bell is probably your easiest and cheapest option, and any bell will be compatible with your panel - however, I would recommend a Texecom Odyssey (a good bell, and the connections are labelled up exactly the same as on your panel). Should set you back around the £50-£60 mark retail.
