Guest Jeff Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Hi Guys - some advice please. I currently have an //.National Installer.// monitored alarm (Scantronics 705 wireless - installed originally by Telecom Security). I am replacing the system with a Powermax which I have all configured and set up on the bench ready to install. My problem - whats the best way to deinstall the Scantronics without upsetting the neigbours? My main concern is silencing the external sounder once I remove the cover and have disconnected the hold off circuit. I would like to think it would be as simple as disconnecting the battery in the bell box but I suspect its probably not that straight forward? Any advice and hints greatfully received. thanks Jeff
Guest dale Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Easiest thing to do is disconnec the internal panel, then wait 20mins for the bell box to stop making a racket. Then stick on some ear muffs and remove the cover for the bell box, and disconnect the battery. Dale
Guest Peter James Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 It makes a noise twice that way Dale, Jeff once youv,ve cut the battery and dissed the hold off the bell will stop. Personally I wouldnt bother I just use the battery from the control panel to hold the bell off, it will make a bit of noise for a few mins each time you change from panel to bat and bat to new panel but its better than getting up a ladder when you dont have to. Pete P.S. dont forget to feed the batery wires through the same hole as the bell wire before you use it to hold off the bell, that way the panel comes of cleanly.
paul fae kings Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 I agree pete thats how I do it too.Ladder clamp loosening in the rain for nothing isnt appealing
