I have a choice - Wired from //.National Installer.// or Wireless from a specialist retailer. Price difference is neither here nor there when factoring in the wiring labour.

this is my first post and need to make a decision this week - please help!!!!!

many many thanks guys (and girls)

Wired everytime. Wireless has its place but if you can get wired then definitely go for that option, definitely.

That's wired, btw. ;)

and why just //.National Installer.//?

Wireless doesn't usually work out cheaper, simply because the good kit costs 25-25% more in total than wired kit.

A wired system, and where abouts are you? - maybe someone of this forum can do you a quote.

Wired from..... someone else. //.National Installer.// aren't the be all and end all of Intruder companies. There's plenty more smaller companies out there who do a better job and would probably care more about your property than the likes of //.National Installer.//, companies who you'd actually be a person to and not a number.

Entirely unrelated we took over an Ex-//.National Installer.// alarm in a pub this week and were quite shocked to see 1 of the sensors with nothing but 12volts going to it, no zone wires or anything. Looked like it had been added as an after thought and someone had fitted it expecting to tap off the Pir through the wall only to find no spare cores, so they'd descripted up a spare zone in the panel as 'lounge' and just connected up 12v and 0v in the passive.

I would deffinately go for wired if there are no complications that could make for a messy job. Alot of the cheap wireless tackle is rubbish and will cause you nothing but trouble. Only wireless kit i've used that is half decent is the Infiniti from ESP/Electronics line (i've never installed scannies before anyone has a go :P ). But even still, I would choose a decent wired system over them any day.

Wired and get two other quotes rather than just 1 quote from //.National Installer.//.

And when you say specialist retailer did you mean B&Q?

What's wrong with B&Q alarm equipment?
