Adi Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Well obviously i didnt mean the keypad but ill bear in mind your wallpaper trick should a customer want it hiding. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
efcmandan Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 cant it go just outside the stair cupboard? 66467 Yeah, but the panel is under the stairs. Whereas the front door opens into a porch, then another door into the lounge. It'd be handy to have the remote keypad near this door, so we can reach it without taking muddy boots off etc.
efcmandan Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Why not in the hall area next to the front door.Remote keypads are small these days and are very obtrusive, if you installer is up to scratch then he sould be able to install the keypad on a external wall (not outside) and drop the wire down the cavity under the floor to the cupboard the panel is in making a neat job. Like the flap of wall paper idea, reminds me of safes behind the picture, hidden passage ways behind the dining room wall. 66471 We don't have a hall as such, just a porch. I think he'll be running the cable under the carpet, then up a border-type thing. When it's done, I'll post some pics if you're still interested
FASTCAR Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 How about the Eurosec CP8L , there is a picture of one in the Gallery. Regards
Zak Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 The Eurosec is a good quality reliable and economically priced fully programmable panel, with, wait for it, the LCD English text display that every is on about. There is absolutely no point, in todays day and age, in installing an LED display. They are not very informative, don't have date and time logs of activations, and you have to keep a zone list nearby to see what zone is what if one goes off. So, get an LCD keypad regardless of the panel you go for. If you are happy with your installer then you will have to go with what he knows and installs regularly, but he should definitely be able to source a keypad with LCD text. At the very least, I'll make sure I get an LCD display on the remote keypad. Thanks Dan
Paul Giles Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Just a matter of interest, does your installer have approval by an inspectorate? PG Security Systems Somerset SSAIB Certificate of Merit Installers. www.pgsecurity.co.uk
efcmandan Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Just a matter of interest, does your installer have approval by an inspectorate? 66620 Hmm, I haven't asked him. I fear not.
Guest Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Hmm, I haven't asked him. I fear not. 66639 Nothing to fear just because he's not in an inspectorate.
Zak Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Nothing to fear just because he's not in an inspectorate. 66641 Maybe, maybe not. I am not quite sure why anyone would not be in one of the inspectorates unless alarm was not their main business. It is the benchmark nowadays. Sure, there a few people here and there who don't want monitored contracts and the associated headaches who have been in the business for ages etc....... but they must be missing out on loads of work. It is so much more common for people to ask for SSAIB/NSI. And then you have the cowboys who would never even think about it - do what they want how they want - and tell clients that Police response is a complete waste of time - because they cannot provide it.
