Guest Guest_Neil_* Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I have a Veritas 8c that has stopped working properly after a couple power cuts. The chime on the front door has stopped and I cannot re-arm. I also cannot set the alarm now....it seems to not be recognising the zones like it used to. I've read on here that engineers will probably charge £30 give or take depending on the quality of tea and biscuits supplied to repair such things. Every company I've called has a minimum call oput of anything from 70 to £100 for the first hour. Is there anyone out there that can help me in Streatham South London? Call Neil 07711 293469.

Call Neil 07711 293469. 66593[/snapback] Engineers don't really charge only £30 for a callout. Whoever paid that was extremely lucky. £75-£85 plus VAT would normally cover the initial hour on site. In London, for non-conract clients that is. Sorry! Edit - although maybe someone on here is near you and will do you a favour?? bellman Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 The battery will require replacement and the panel will need to be tested to ensure it is functioning correctly as faulty batteries often damage panels. What Pete says above is correct, It shouldn't normaly happen but does because systems havn't been serviced in years. An engineer would have tested the battery on the service visit and noticed the decline in it's capacity and replaced it accordingly. After all, you'd not buy a new car and then not have it serviced for 5 years would you As regards what you need to do, you need to call an engineer to test and repair it for you. If you post your location somebody may be close enough to you to provide assistance. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
