Guest Tom Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Hi, I have been having problems with our alarm system for quite a while now. First off let me stress that I didn't install it, it was installed by the previous owner of our house. So sadly, I dont know the system back to front like I hope you guys do!! Basically, I want to disconnect the system - it can stay as makes a usefull deterant in itself - but we are having trouble with the internal sounder going off (at rare but far to frequent to laugh off) moments. The internal sounder is now wrapped up in a bout a meter thicknes of bathroom towels!! Who would have thought that tiny box could make so much bloody noise! Now, should i disconnect the alarm from the backup battery then disconnect it from the mains? That would seem to be the obvious thing but I am absolutely terrified about setting off the whole system Please help
morph Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 If you tamper with the system, you will only make matters worse and possibly end up with the external sounder ringing also. I would suggest you get a new installer in to look at the what is causing the problem in the first place, presumably you have never had the system serviced? Post your location on this topic and one of the local engineers to you will be able to assist you further.
Mavrick_001 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Hi you can power down the system, it's fairly stright forward, I'm sure a man of your intelegence will figure it out... but.... the external sounder may go off, if you can live with it for 20mins if the cut out is still working, or days if it isn't then that'll fix the problem if you'd had enough of it. norman Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Hello and welcome Tom, Do as Alarmgard suggests and get it looked at by a company local to you, it makes more sense in the long run, you already have the kit installed so you might as well utilise it. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Zak Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 As all above. Bear in mind that it is clearly not normal for the alarm to sound like that, and if it was maintained then there is no reason to expect or suffer those kinds of problems.
