Which communicator for Veritas excel ?

Hi,

I currently have a Texecom Veritas Excel which has 4 x PIR's, 1 x Window contact (on a vulnerable window next to a flat roof), and 4 x (door) contacts on front and back doors and internal garage door and up and over style garage door.

The system is not monitored and I'm interested in getting a communicator to either call or text me when the alarm activates.

I would appreciate any advice on which model to buy. I've looked at the Texecom text and speech dialer (Alert electrical seems to offer a reasonable price) but was wondering if other brands would work on the PCB and/or be better suited?

I basically want the system to let me know when the alarm is activated or de-activated under duress or when the panic button is set off.

Also, on looking at the communicator by Texecom it shows a keypad. Is this able to be used as another remote keypad or is it solely for the use of recording voice/text etc.

Many thanks and any advice greatly appreciated. (other than telling me to get lost that is.)

Hi,

Thanks for the swift response.

I've got a phone socket near the alarm panel purely for the communicator when i get it. I noticed that the texecom one allows you to listen in to whats happening. Any idea on what the clarities like? I ask because my PCB is in a cupboard and i'm not sure if i'd hear a great deal if the communicators in there? Or would you recommend installing it a bit of a distance away from the PCB to allow me to hear what's happening and prevent that being smashed off the wall if the offenders found the PCB?

Thanks again.

You can hide your dialler out the way and have a Texecom remote microphone connected to it.

Just another option.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. Where would i get a remote mic from and is it straight forward to connect to the dialler?

Also, for the test (sms) messaging from the dialler, does it require a SIM card on pay as you go or will it text via the land line that its connected to?

Thanks again for all the assistance.

James
